HOW MUCH DOES A CUSTOM PAINTING COST?
My current un-framed rate is $3.00 per square inch. Multiply the width of the image by the height, then multiply by two. For example: 12" x 16" = 192 x $3.00 = $576. If an image is especially complex, the cost may be higher. Especially large projects may be less 😀. Let's talk.
Shipping and framing costs are additional.
WHAT GENRE DO YOU PAINT BEST?
Landscapes. I love painting nature! Although I may be able to paint other subjects, you may not want me to because I slow way down, the project takes more time, and costs increase. Painting people is definitely something you don't want me to do (not yet anyway).
My painting style is somewhat representational, rather than realistic. In other words, I'm not trying to paint an exact duplicate of the reference photo. I may boost some colors, paint a tree stylistically, change the color of the sky, etc. This will be YOUR painting though so before I do something too wild and crazy, I'll run it by you!
WHAT IS NEEDED FOR A REFERENCE PHOTO?
I will help you identify a good photo(s) to paint from. The most important thing behind creating a painting that you'll treasure is the composition (arrangement of elements within the image). Don't let that frighten you. Again, I'll help you with this!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
It all depends on the size and complexity of the piece as well as how many other custom paintings I'm working on. I've done some works in a day and others have taken months to complete. Just tell me when you need it and I'll be honest about whether or not I can produce quality work within your timeframe.
IS FRAMING INCLUDED?
Framing is an additional cost. In most cases a frame is the finishing touch that really makes your artwork pop! I can provide for you some great framing sources and suggestions OR I can take care of all aspects of framing for you for additional fee of $50. Some larger paintings look great without framing. It's really your preference.
DO YOU USE A CONTRACT?
Yes. It's a very simple contract; mostly for the purpose of making sure you're exceptionally happy with your purchase. Contracts help prevent misunderstandings and keep good friends good friends!
